We have eaten lots of good food at lots of different kinds of restaurants. The street we live near has lots of little restaurants. One is a kitchen outside and the dining area is down a flight of stairs and inside a small shack type structure. Our favorite is the noodle shop. It is the first place we went when we got here. The noodles there are called "Dao Shao Mian" they are noodles cut from a big block of dough so they are thick and very filling. The broth they are in has tomatoes and garlic in it and is just delicious. My favorite dish is eggs and tomatoes on rice. Laura's favorite dish is the same but when we make it. We have the worlds tiniest kitchen. We do like to cook quite a bit because if we eat out all the time we feel like we are eating tons of oil. Chinese people fry everything. If we cook at home we don't have to eat as much oil. Last Sunday we made curry that was delicious. It had carrots, green beans, potatoes, and apples in it. There is another curry restaurant nearby that is absolutely delicious. It is more expensive but in all reality it is only like $4 so way cheaper that it would be in the States.
We have done some traveling and will expound on those journeys with pictures soon. We have also enjoyed going to the branch here. We had the opportunity two weeks ago go to Shanghai to district conference. We heard from a member of the Seventy. Elder Gong and his wonderful wife spoke to us several times throughout all the meetings. All of the messages were so amazing and each speaker had something to say to everyone.
Of course it is China, the land of the black markets! We have done plenty of shopping and have bought a few things. Items in our shopping cart include fake toms, fun belts, opi nail polish, beats headphones, earrings, rings, playing cards, and such.
We will keep posting and putting more pictures on soon!!
